[Poetry] Dear Kid

Dear kid,
sorry to say
but your Sunday morning cartoons
and best friends forever
they're all lies

Dear kid,
by the time you see the world
you'll realize
that the sun isn't the one moving
that not all turtles unable to run
that crossroads are there forever
and that friends
come with terms and conditions

Dear kid,
people will perpetually show you
how unpromising, how unintelligent,
how underachieving,
how you're not gonna make it

you may think of them such disagreeable
it feels wrong, yet so right
and in the end
you'll blame you

Kid, tell me,
what else can you do
but focus on your path
its dreadful deserts, its unforgiving oceans
death valleys

Kid,
you'll reach the fairy land
when it's all rainbows and unicorns
eventually
there will come true,
your dreams!

So, kid,
post-script this in your being
let them form their jealousy into words of hatred
let them turn their great talents into utmost pride
let them
be

Semasa di Kota Tua: Dec 2016 + Mini Art Haul

Hello, dear reader. Hello, December.

On Saturday, I was checking out my Instagram followings' Insta stories, when I found out that there was an event happening at Kota Tua (Old Town), the Fatahilah Square to be precise. It was only held for two days during the weekend, so the day after was obviously my last chance to visit it.

So, knowing about it the day before, my friend Jeanne (I feel like I forced her to come with me) and I went to the event on Sunday. It's called Semasa di Kota Tua. The event is a combination of art workshops & a creative market with an orchestra performance. Aside from that, there were also 'Sketch Together at Kota Tua' & 'Unrevealed Kota Tua Walking Tour' programs.

We both went by using Transjakarta, stopped at Kota Station, and walked from there. It was held on the 2nd Floor of Gedung Pos, specifically at the Batavia Market. I've learned that this wasn't their first event. They've hosted several events like this in the past year.

Note: most of the pictures in this post aren't high quality, but I hope you'll still find them enjoyable like I do.

As we entered the room, we were greeted by this teal colored wall that I think really matched the ambience. The other side was full of glass windows overlooking the Fatahilah Square. The room wasn't that huge and it was packed with people, but it still felt cozy. I have to say that I really, really like the tenants!!! There were so much cool, creative individuals that I've met there, along with their lovely products.

The day before, I spared some money to buy mini cookies from Surely Someday Kitchen, but they've already ran out of the cookies by the time we arrived! :( I was really curious about their Cocoa Earl Grey, Rosemary Honey, & Honey Lavender cookies. The friendly people at their table suggested me to buy online, though. And I'll definitely order soon haha how can I resist those tiny cookies with interesting flavors and shapes?

There were different types of things, ranging from fabric, to leather goods, carved wood, to natural beauty products and aromatic oils, candles, ornaments, to postcards, accessories, pins, art prints, notebooks, art zines, and more fantastic stuff. My favorite? Art prints and postcards!

There was a music performance at 3-4pm. I'm not that into music but I think that was one beautiful, elegant performance.

I also bought a bottle of matcha from Yuuyuu Tea and a bar of Potato Chip Milk Chocolate from the growing chocolate industry, Pipiltin. I have to say that they're a little expensive but also nice.

We went home not long after and I thought to myself: I THINK I HAVE TO GO TO THEIR NEXT EVENT!

There was actually potato chip chunks inside the chocolate bar haha! For those who love potato chips and milk chocolate, you gotta try this. Their chocolate packagings are all also so nice.

I've ended up using the spared money for art prints haha! Bought a Kiki's Delivery Service postcard from asobi, an art print from Zora, and another art print from Liunic. #noregrets

Thank you, Semasa di Kota Tua, for the great event & for introducing me to some new brands to add to my go-to list. Actually made my week. :)

While at Kota Tua, you should visit Semasa di Kota Tua!

Postcards from Bandung

Bonjour!

I want to bake cookies and paint and watch Snowden and travel somewhere far away. But I can't. Not because there are assignments to get done (which I actually have), but because I'm that lazy couch potato that always submits my works last minute.

Lately I've been feeling stuck and I just couldn't concentrate on anything. I feel like I've disappointed lots of people in the past few weeks, including myself. And then there are also lots of regrets and bad luck and bullshit and a train of other shitty situations involved in this shitty phase of my life that I shouldn't elaborate any further. I don't want to feel better. I actually want to BE better.

I realized that I haven't been blogging much, maybe that was why hahaha, so here goes the a-few-months-late Bandung post! What I mean by postcards are some photographs that I took on my last trip to Bandung (that I think will be nice if made into postcards, but the  phone cam quality lolol)

Pascal Food Market! It's more crowded at night.

We tried mie kocok (mie = noodles, kocok = shake) one famous dish of Bandung cuisines!

Pascal Food Market's design is great and country-ish

Also the famous Ronde Alkateri, yum!

There are lots of cute resto/cafes near Pascal Food Market

Calamari @ KARE

Cake from Sukha Bakery that we accidentally ran into. Pretty good.

The next day we went to Lembang Farmhouse!!!!

They sell cute stuff all over Farmhouse

*mbee*

Dodol susu!!! The packaging's nice!

Love the design, but the taste was outta my expectations :(

You can rent Dutch clothes here!!!

Cows

Next: De'Ranch! Didn't take many pics there :(

Next day we went to PVJ (Paris Van Java, one of the biggest malls). On the way we bought juice @ Sukamaju st. Recommended juice place!!! So fresh & cheap & yummy!

Dusk light

That's it ahaha there are more pics but not good enough to post, and my sis and I were sick for two days during this trip, so the pics are quite few hehe.

Have a great Sunday y'all!

x emily

p.s.: funnily enough, after I finished this post I remembered the quote "time heals; the bad days will pass for it won't linger and be there forever" or something like that :')
p.p.s: INTERNSHIP STARTS TOMORROW AAA

[Poetry] Leaving

[15/07/16] Leaving

She was a star;
bright, enchanting,
gazed at like no other.

She was a star;
utterly flawless and unreachable,
admired only from afar.

She was a star;
and even with her last bit of fuel,
never wished to disappear.

Now, she is a black dwarf;
just another star,
that has ceased to shine.

She, however, is eternal;
for they keep reminiscing about her,
and what a beautiful star she was.
